Meet Dr. Chang

Paul Chang, MD, is currently in private practice in Asheville, NC. Up to 2001, he has been the Chairman of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee of the Mission-St. Joseph System for the last 8 years, he remains Chair of the Formulary Subcommittee to date, presiding over 6 hospitals formulary of the Mission System. Adjunct Faculty for the Wake Forest Physician Assistant program. Associate Professor of UNC School of Medicine, Guest lecturer for the U of NC MAHEC Family Practice Program, Asheville 2001,2002 ; U. of Tenn. Family Practice Program in Johnson City, Tenn.2001,2002 Faculty lecturer for NC Academy of Family Practice meeting in Charleston SC and in Asheville NC.2001,2002

He is also a preceptor for the Wake Forest School of Medicine, Midwestern University, and Arcadia University Physician Assistant programs. He continue to give the Diabetes and HTN update to Wake Forest PA program every year since 2006 -2013

Dr. Chang received his medical degree from U of Chicago. After graduation, he completed his internal medicine residency at the University of S. Florida at Tampa. He then becomes Associate professor of Duke University to teach Internal Medicine program in Asheville VA for 3 years. He is certified in Nutrition Support by ASPEN and Diplomat status with the National Board of Medical Examiners and International Society of Clinical Densitometry certified. He is not board certified but board eligible in Internal Medicine but remains a thought leader in the field of HTN, DM and Lipids in WNC.

Dr. Chang is a member in many professional organizations including the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, Mid-Atlantic Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, Southern Medical Association and WNC Medical Society.

His field of interests are in Type II diabetes, hypertension, lipidology, and nutrition and lipoprotein science.

His last visit to China was in 2001 in Kunming where he adopted a daughter.He also is one of the 15 guest faculty from US during the SARS and Bird flu epidemic in China in 2004.
